Delta Dental of South Carolina would like to say thank you to all dentists who participated in the Dental Health Metrics Program in 2019. The Dental Health Metrics Program is a partnership between Delta Dental of South Carolina (DDSC) and participating general dentists and pediatric dentists in our network. The program consists of five quality metrics that are nationally recognized to improve oral health. Each dentist that registered to participate in the program became eligible for incentive payments for providing preventive services under each metric to high-risk patients in their practice. DDSC partnered with each office by providing the office with access to a dashboard containing all five metrics and a list of high-risk patients in each metric who were patients of record in their office. Throughout 2019, DDSC tracked the number of high-risk patients in each metric who received the qualifying preventive service. Each dentist had a target percentage of high-risk patients for each metric in her or his practice.
Congratulations to the 21 dentists in South Carolina who achieved their target in at least one of the quality metrics. The total incentive payments to participating dentists (in Missouri and South Carolina) was $194,000. Dentists received their incentive payment checks in late March for their accomplishments in 2019. The incentive payment checks for an individual dentist ranged from $72 to $5,166 depending on the size of the practice and the number of metrics that were achieved.
